With the annual ARRL Field Day event rapidly approaching, we thought it might be nice to share this audio recording of a 1948 network radio broadcast covering Amateur Radio and Field Day. This recording was provided to Radio Relay International courtesy of the historical archives of the Morse Telegraph Club, an association of retired railroad and commercial telegraph operators, former telegraph industry employees, historians, and others with an interest in the history of telegraphy and telecommunications (www.morsetelegraphclub.com). MTC maintains an archive of historical telegraph instruments, documents and related items. Members assist with the design and construction of museum exhibits throughout the United States and Canada, present talks on the history of telegraphy, and contribute to the publication of “Dots and Dashes,” the quarterly journal of MTC.
In the broadcast, you will hear extended coverage of several Field Day locations, with excellent background material. Enjoy!
